More About the Position

We are currently undertaking a large research project around the evolution of the markets through a study of the hearing aid industry. The core question that we would like to answer is: Under which conditions can producers reap benefits by obfuscating the nature and purpose of their products? We are systematically analyzing archival data from the evolution of the hearing aid industry for 70-years from 1945 until 2015. We are looking for a research assistant to help analyze data. The data analysis is qualitative in nature, in that you will have to read through documents and apply a coding scheme. We will create a spreadsheet with several parameters with columns for different characteristics of the data sources. The kind of data that is used in the main analysis is hearing aid industry magazines and media articles. The task is to skim each article and to code each article along the dimensions on the spreadsheet. You will also participate in a bi-weekly research meeting with the research team (from MIT, EM Lyon and King’s College London) to update us on what you have learned by skimming through the articles and how it augments our understanding of market evolution. The position is about 10 hours a week although there is some flexibility in the number of hours. The pay is $15 pr. hour. The work will start immediately and the main bulk of the work will be between now and July. 1st 2023. However, as we continue to work on the paper, we believe that there might be ongoing work. We would therefore like to hire a person who will be able to keep being associated with the project until at least the end of 2023. TO APPLY: Please send your CV and a statement about why you are qualified for the position to s.grodal@northeastern.edu
