WREN Jumpstart Program

The WREN Jumpstart Program is a new interdisciplinary initiative being launched for Fall 2022! This program is geared towards female-aligned individuals who have not participated in research before and/or are looking for help on how to get involved in research during college. Although Jumpstart is open to all students, WREN in particular hopes that this program will support students who may come from backgrounds where they were not exposed to research, including first-generation, low-income, and other students.

Jumpstart Program members will gain access to an 8 week long student-led workshop series. This series of events and skills-based trainings will explain to you how to find research opportunities on campus, how to reach out to professors, how to have a successful interview, and more. You will also hear from student speakers who have been successful in their research endeavors and how they got to where they are today as well as faculty members/research administrators at NU. In addition, Jumpstart Program members will be matched up with a WREN Scholar currently doing research in a similar area of interest.

Applications are not competitive, and spots will be filled on a first-come first-serve basis. Click the link below to fill out our 5-minute long survey to join Jumpstart for the upcoming semester! After all spots are filled, students will be placed on a waitlist and, if desired, given first priority for the following semester's cohort.
